Police say a man killed his wife and threatened to commit suicide Wednesday at a New Rochelle senior complex.
Authorities say they received a call at around 11:20 a.m. from a man identified as Paul Weinstein, who said he had just shot his wife, Helena, at the Maple Center Senior Apartments.
Officers rushed to the couple's home, where Weinstein had locked himself in the bathroom. Lt. Bill Childs, of the New Rochelle Police Department, eventually convinced Weinstein to surrender. Police discovered Helena Weinstein's body with a shot to the head.
Neighbors say Paul Weinstein was distraught by the prospect of sending his ailing wife to a nursing home.
