Police have identified a man who was killed after hitting a parking garage column in Stamford late Friday night.

Police say Hector Ricardo Rivera-Salazar, 47, was traveling northbound on Houston Terrace when he crossed all lanes of traffic, entered the property and hit the support column at 1266 East Main St.

It happened at 11:45 p.m.

Salazar, of Stamford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car was heavily damaged.
