A man in Pleasantville attempted to lure a middle school student Monday, police say.
School officials sent a letter to parents saying the incident happened on Bedford Road around 2:30 p.m.
They say the man was driving a late-model black Cadillac and first asked the girl where the nearest gas station was and then asked if she wanted to make some money.
"At that point, the girl did exactly the right thing," says Lt. Eric Grutzer, of the Pleasantville Police Department. "She screamed and ran off. That's when we got involved and started to find out who this person is to get more information."
This is the fourth attempted luring incident in Westchester over the past month, according to police.
Police say the incidents appear to be unrelated, but they are increasing patrols around schools and in the downtown area.
No arrests have been made.
