Yonkers police say they are closer to resolving their investigation into last week's accidental shooting death of 4-year-old Makayla Manners.
News 12 previously reported that the child accidentally shot herself in the face on Memorial Day inside her mother's Walnut Street apartment.
Now, police say that it was an illegal gun Makayla used when she accidentally shot herself in the head.
Police say that the child's mother, aunt and two men were home at the time, but they are still trying to determine how the child got her hands on the loaded gun.
Yonkers police say their current focus is on identifying who brought the semi-automatic handgun into the apartment.
