News 12 is learning more details about last week’s apartment building fire in Nanuet.
Clarkstown police say that the gas leak was caused by the workers when they used a machine that digs underground, called a "torpedo," and it hit a gas main.
While the cause of the fire is still undetermined at this point, investigators have theories about what may have ignited it. One includes the machine.
As News 12 has reported, a complex spokesperson says the work was part of Verizon Fios installation to improve the internet.
Verizon has directed News 12's questions to Bortech inc. The business declined to comment and directed News 12's questions to local authorities.
Orange & Rockland says it is not able to comment until the investigation is over.
