A 36-year-old Newburgh teacher missing for weeks was last seen at the Windsor Motel with an acquaintance, according to authorities.
Officials say the person Jessica Lopez was last with is a person of interest.
Her disappearance on Nov. 3 might be the result of a domestic incident and there has not been contact since, according to police.
Sources close to the case say the suspect and Lopez had been dating off and on for years.
Her family believes something may be wrong, as Lopez is not known to demonstrate such behavior.
"This is not her usual behavior, which is why it's bizarre," says her brother.
New Windsor Chief Robert Doss hopes to find Lopez alive, stating "We're hoping, but, you know, the reality of it is the more time that goes by - the odds are going down that we're going to find her OK.”
The victim’s car was found abandoned in a parking lot, and police say she has not used her cellphone or credit cards since the disappearance.
It is not clear whether or not the person of interest is cooperating with officials.
