A car with the body of a missing woman inside was found in an Orange County pond Thursday, according to a missing persons group.
Blooming Grove police had been working on a missing person investigation for the last few days. On Thursday evening, the nonprofit Keep Hope Alive 845 said it was told by family members that 45-year-old Nicole Brown had been identified as the body in the car. Brown had been missing since Nov. 30.
An aviation unit went up around 12 p.m. and spotted an overturned silver Volkswagen Jetta partially submerged in a drainage retention pond off Exit 124 on Route 17 in Goshen.
They found the body inside the car.
“Usually, if a car goes missing, we check the back roads...maybe it took a back road, maybe something happened to them on a back road, maybe they got stuck. We checked parking lots, we went to almost every area, hotels," said Domingo Ramos, of Keep Hope Alive 845.
