Police in Harrison are investigating a fatal car crash off the Hutchinson River Parkway Wednesday.
According to police, the driver came off the exit 23 north ramp of the parkway at an extremely high rate of speed. Although there are no skid marks, investigators say it looks as though the car then crossed Mamaroneck Avenue, went over the divider, slammed head-on into the barriers and flipped to the other side. As police conducted an investigation, Mamaroneck Avenue had to be shut down from Union Avenue to Saxon Woods Pool and both ramps of the Hutchinson were also closed, causing major traffic tie-ups.
No drugs or alcohol were found in the car but police are awaiting toxicology reports to see if either was a factor.
