A Mount Vernon man is under arrest and has been charged with the killing of a teenager last summer.
Leroi Bouche, 21, is being charged in connection with the murder of Shamari Knox, who was gunned down in his car five months ago.
Police arrested Bouche Monday after they were called to break up a fight he was allegedly having with his girlfriend.
?Once there, patrol units recognized Mr. Bouche and held him for questioning by detectives,? says Commisioner David Chong, of the Mount Vernon Police Department.
Police have not revealed why Bouche allegedly opened fire, but say the summer shooting spurred heavy police presence in the streets.
Officials say this wasn't an easy case to crack and are thanking the community for stepping forward.
Mount Vernon Mayor Clinton Young credited police for their good detective work, but says there are no winners in this case.
?One man is dead and another could spend the rest of his life behind bars,? says Young.
