Police say they have busted a burglary ring responsible for break-ins at more than two dozen homes.
Seven people are in custody, charged with thefts in Westchester and Putnam counties and throughout the tri-state area.
Harrison police say the alleged burglars stole jewelry, nearly $40,000 in cash and a handgun.
Police say the burglars would then sell the valuables to their alleged ring leader, David Tadjiev, who operated a jewelry business in the New York City diamond district.
Authorities say most of the burglaries happened early in the day during the week in houses that appeared to be vacant.
Police say the crimes were committed over the past year.
A break in the case came in September when police obtained evidence through surveillance footage, and a license plate reader in an officer's car identified a suspect's vehicle.
