7-year-old boy in critical but stable condition after being struck by vehicle in Airmont

A 7-year-old boy from Airmont was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle on New County Road near Appleland Road and Laura Drive.

The child was initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital before being transported to WMC, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.

According to authorities, the child ran westbound on New County Road into traffic and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Police do not believe that any criminal activity was involved.

The incident has left residents in the area shaken, with many expressing concerns about the safety of the road. They claim that drivers often speed through the area, making it a hazardous stretch of road.

In fact, last year, more than two dozen children under the age of 12 were struck by vehicles and injured in Rockland County.
