The White Plains SWAT team responded to The Westchester mall Sunday after three armed men robbed a high-end watch store.
The smash-and-grab robbery happened on the second level of the mall at the luxury watch store Tourneau.
The robbers, armed with guns and hammers, smashed the glass displays full of watches. The commotion lead shoppers to think the breaking glass was gunshots, and the SWAT team was called in for a possible active shooter in the mall.
A security guard in the store tackled one of the robbers, but all three escaped with an unknown amount of watches.
The store was locked down, but the mall did not have to be evacuated.
Police say no injuries were reported and no shots were fired. Officials will be using surveillance video from the mall to help better identify the suspects.
