Police say a teenager was seriously hurt in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway.

Officers say Michael Ruotolo was sitting in his disabled Jeep Explorer on the shoulder of the expressway near Exit 68 Friday afternoon when a Toyota Camry slammed into him.

They say 17-year-old Bellport resident William Brewster, a passenger of the Toyota, was brought to the hospital with serious injuries.

The 17-year-old driver of the Toyota was also taken to the hospital but is expected to be OK.

The driver of the Jeep is also expected to recover.
