Police: 11-year-old child struck by vehicle in Monsey; 2nd child hurt in area in a week

The disturbing trend of children being struck by vehicles continues in Rockland County.
The latest accident happened just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Monsey on Collage Road near Wallenberg Circle.
According to Ramapo police, an 11-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound. The driver remained on the scene.
The child was taken to Westchester Medical Center, his injuries were reportedly not serious.
This is the second time in just over a week that a child has been struck by a car in the area.
Last Monday, at around 9 p.m. a 10-year-old girl riding her bike was struck on Ronald Drive in Monsey.
The little girl was rushed to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition. Police say the driver in that accident stayed on the scene.
At this point, no criminal charges have been filed against the driver in either case. Police say they continue to investigate the accidents.
On Jan. 8, News 12 reported a 7-year-old boy ran into traffic on New Country Road in Airmont, and was struck by a driver. Sadly, that little boy died as a result of his injuries a week later.
