Police on Long Island have identified the 21-year-old suspect in Tuesday's botched robbery that led to a shooting at a busy shopping mall.
Police say they have arrested Oliver Lee, of Little Neck, New York, in connection with the crime that left a 67-year-old retired NYPD officer injured.
Former Detective Sgt. Kenneth Krug was working as a security guard at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City when the suspect's gun discharged and struck him, according to police. He is in stable condition.
Police say they had received an alert to the attempted robbery the Rolex section of the Tourneau store inside the mall just before 1 p.m.
The mall remained open following the incident, except for the crime scene.
