It may have been a mild start to winter, but it was plenty cold for a group of swimmers at Oakland Beach in Rye on New Year's Day.
More than 100 people stormed into the frigid waters of the Long Island Sound for the 13th annual Ray's Polar Plunge.
The event raises money for ALS research and the Challenged Athlete's Foundation.
Those who partook said the experience was exhilarating.
