Skyview Lane, just off of Quaker Ridge Road, is where a large chunk of New Rochelle's outages remains.
Besides New Rochelle, New Castle, Yonkers, and Cortlandt were the hardest hit and have the most remaining outages.
With temperatures continuing to climb, people's patience is wearing thin.
One longtime resident says that fear of catching the coronavirus has made this even more difficult to manage. "We haven't left the house since March to go into a store or restaurant so I had a lot of premade food in the refrigerator, you know, which is all gone. The freezer is gone. And it's too hot to sleep," says Joy Robinson,of New Rochelle.
In total, about 600 Con Ed customers in New Rochelle are still in the dark. New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson calls the response troubling and something that can't be ignored. "We certainly can and should engage constructively in the process of critically examining their performance during this storm and making recommendations for how things can be improved."
Con Edison has told customers it hopes to have power back by tonight, but it has continued to push its deadline back since last weekend – which is part of what residents are finding frustrating."
