Thanks to a $50,000 state grant secured by Sen. Michelle Hinchey, the Pleasant Valley Fire District is set to acquire a new UTV (Utility Task Vehicle).
This new land rescue vehicle will empower PVFD members to combat fires and conduct rescues in rugged terrains like wooded areas, farmlands, and trails that are inaccessible to regular firetrucks.
Notably, this includes the expansive 917-acre Taconic Hereford Multiple Use Area, one of the largest state forests in Dutchess County.
Officials say the addition will greatly enhance the district's capacity for timely and effective response in challenging environments.
