A new initiative in Bronx schools is aimed at teaching kids how to stay safe from gun violence. According to police, there were 400 shootings in the Bronx last year. In an effort to teach kids about the dangers of gun violence, police launched a pilot program at M.S. 222 Tuesday. Officers used skits and other tools to teach students about resisting gangs and steering clear of guns. NYPD officials say their section of the anti-gun violence initiative focuses on educating young Bronx residents about the consequences of gang involvement and reducing gang activity all together.
