Phelps Memorial Hospital gave News 12 a behind-the-scenes look at its new SurgiCenter Wednesday.
The center is a 20,000-square-foot wing that is connected to the main hospital.
The center includes large operating rooms and private patient rooms. Some of the latest in surgical technology also suspends from the operating room ceilings.
The center is particularly excited about one new monitor. Each patient will be listed by a code that will appear on the monitor's screen. This way, family and friends know exactly where their loved ones are and what condition they are in.
Directors of the center say that the new wing helps marry the newest technology with the hospital's old-fashioned values.
