People in 7 Yonkers and Mount Vernon ZIP codes eligible to register for vaccine appointments

A second mass vaccination will be opening up in Westchester in a week, and registration began for some people this morning.
The second state-run mass site is located at the National Guard Armory at 2 Quincy Place in Yonkers. The other one is at the Westchester County Center.
People who live in certain ZIP codes in Yonkers and Mount Vernon are being given priority to make their appointments before the site opens up to everyone else.
People living in Yonkers ZIP codes 10701, 10705, 10703 and 10704, and Mount Vernon ZIP codes 10553, 10550 and 10552 started making appointments today.
In addition to living in these ZIP codes, you also have to meet the state's eligibility guidelines to get your shots.
There's two ways to register - online at NY.GOV/VACCINE or over the phone at 833-697-4829. Officials say people won't be able to come to the armory in person to make an appointment until next Wednesday.
State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh says getting people in these communities registered and vaccinated will be a major task.
He says anyone can call his office or their local representative for help.
Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said Tuesday night that if someone doesn't have internet access, the city's Department of Recreation will help make an appointment.
Sayegh says he and other local officials called on members of the governor's team Tuesday to give them two weeks to help people get registered before opening the floodgates to everyone else in Westchester.
"The representatives from the governor's office pledged that they would get back to us right away, but they did acknowledge that it makes sense, it's a reasonable request," says Sayagh.
The site itself is scheduled to open up a week from today on March 3.  That’s also when registration for appointments will open up to everyone. Until then, only people living in those zip codes can register.
