A teenager is accused of lighting his own Peekskill home on fire, authorities say.
Officials say the teenager started the fire then walked out the door, leaving four other family members inside the Belden Street home.
A woman who lives in the home says her 19-year-old foster brother had a "meltdown" and started the fire in his second-floor bedroom.
The deputy fire chief says they were able to quickly extinguish the flames. The four people inside the house made it out safely but two cats did not survive.
The teen has been arrested and is expected to be arraigned on arson charges Wednesday.
