Peekskill community comes out to celebrate 4th of July parade
Hundreds of people in Peekskill came out to Washington Street for the traditional Fireman's Independence Day Parade.
Marching bands and American flags spanned the route as the community came out to celebrate the country's 243rd birthday.
Residents say that everyone comes together to celebrate the Fourth of July.
"We put politics aside," said John Isabella Jr. "We're not Republicans, we're not Democrats, we're not conservative or liberal. We are Americans."
Spectators honored their local heroes as emergency responders and law enforcement agencies marched through the streets.
The mile-and-a-half parade ended at the new Central Fire Station on Broad Street.
