The city of Peekskill celebrated its 35th annual St. Patrick's Day parade with former Gov. George Pataki as grand marshal.
The celebration started with the raising of the Irish flag, followed by a church mass and a parade.
The parade left a lasting impression on one young parade goer. "Fire trucks and police officers are my favorite things to do. Like when I get home, um, I wanna…I wanna…play with my dad and try to chase him around and pretend I'm a police officer," says Nathaniel Washington.
St. Patrick's Day celebrations are expected to continue in the Hudson Valley through next weekend.
