The southbound Bronx River Parkway is back open after a pedestrian was fatally struck Thursday morning along the Bronx-Yonkers border.
Police say that the accident happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on the southbound side near Exit 10C, right off of Bronx River Road.
Officials believe the man was struck by a car and possibly dragged about 40 to 50 yards by another vehicle while he was trying to cross the parkway. The drivers of both cars involved remained on the scene after the accident happened.
The man was declared dead on the scene.
Two southbound lanes were shut down for most of the day as police investigated, but the parkway was fully reopened around 2 p.m.
