The community in Pear River rallied Friday to show support for police officers that put their lives on the line each day.
The event was held in the wake of recent NYPD police shootings and weeks of rising tensions stirred by grand jury decisions.
Former Yonkers Police Commissioner Edmund Hartnett knows all too well the pressures and the dangers of the job. He says he will always support the men and women in uniform.
Prayers were also said at the rally in memory of NYPD Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos who were shot and killed last month as they sat in their patrol car in Brooklyn.
