A Pearl River bar had its liquor license suspended following allegations of underage drinking at the establishment.
According to the New York State Liquor Authority, investigators found that on Aug. 7, bartenders at Hudson West Sports Bar on East Central Avenue sold alcohol to four minors.
The agency also said 13 other minors admitted to drinking alcohol inside the bar. Some of those involved were reportedly as young as 16 or 17 years old.
The SLA says up to 100 people were inside the business that night. The agency says that only 12 patrons were at least 21 years old, while 60 others were underage.
The following night, there was an advertised event. A 16-year-old girl was taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital after Orangetown police found her "unconscious and severely intoxicated," according to authorities. It was alleged that she had been served shots.
State documents posted on the business's door allege that teenagers had access to alcohol at the establishment dating back to 2024.
The SLA charged the licensee with multiple violations of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, including four counts of selling alcoholic beverages to minors and seven counts of failure to supervise. The agency said it will prosecute the charges. The maximum penalty is revocation of the liquor license. No hearing date has been set yet.
As part of the operation earlier this month, Orangetown police said two people were arrested and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child. The charge is a misdemeanor. Both individuals were released on appearance tickets.
Police shared they had received complaints about the establishment.
In a statement, Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny said, "I hope that this action sends a message to other establishments that Orangetown takes underage drinking seriously."
Attempts to reach the business for comment were unsuccessful, and no response had been received as of publication.
