Paterson holds parade to celebrate health care workers and their service

The city of Paterson held a parade Friday to honor health care workers and their service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
First responders led a caravan through the city as residents looked on. It stopped at the Division of Health before landing at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center.
The event signaled the sacrifice of being on the front lines as the Omicron variant surge stresses hospitals.

“I was in the hospital with COVID, and I didn't think this day would be possible. They had told my family I wasn't going to make it…I was in bad shape,” says health care worker Robert McIntyre. “I'm grateful to be here today to plug back in and get back in the trenches, and help make a difference in this city."
Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center reported 603 COVID cases among workers within the past month.
