? Gov. David Paterson says the state is now facing a deeper budget deficit in the tough economy.
In a meeting Thursday with legislative leaders, Paterson announced that the state faces a $10 billion deficit over two years. That total is up from the $6.7 billion last counted in July.
Paterson has proposed mid-year spending cuts to schools, hospitals and nursing homes. He has also called for a Nov. 10 session of the Legislature to address the deficit.
