A 44-year-old mother of four and former Rockland prosecutor walked into the Rockland County Courthouse Friday and pleaded guilty to having sex with two teenage boys.
Beth Modica pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and criminal sexual acts. In return, she'll spend two years in state prison with 10 years probation. She surrendered immediately and was sent to county jail.
Modica, who is separated from Spring Valley Police Chief Paul Modica, allegedly hosted booze and pot parties for her son's Suffern High School friends last summer at her Sloatsburg home. She also had sex with two teen boys, ages 15 and 16.
Modica?s lawyer was fighting the plea deal that was offered and was trying to get his client one year in county jail with 10 years probation. The judge and district attorney wouldn?t budge on the original deal of state prison.
Modica automatically loses her license to practice law and will have to register as a sex offender. She will be back in court in June for a formal sentencing. The time she serves in county jail will count toward her sentence.
