Areas of Westchester will begin to see more COVID-19 restrictions put in place as towns across the county are added to the state's yellow zone list.

Peekskill is the latest to join parts of Yonkers, New Rochelle, Ossining and Tarrytown which will now face restrictions on businesses, schools and houses of worship.

Yellow is the least restrictive of the three zones set up by the state to limit the spread of the virus in areas with high rates of infection.

Areas in the yellow zone will face limits on indoor and outdoor dining capacity, as well worship services which will be limited to 50% capacity. There will also be increased testing efforts.

The restrictions are set to last two weeks and, if infection rates lower, businesses can return back to normal.

Saturday was the last day of the Peekskill Farmer's Market - as many businesses have to follow new restrictions.

Peekskill's Business Improvement District is helping keep the farmers market running during the pandemic to help businesses stay afloat.

Kecia Palmer-Cousins, co-owner of G&K Sweet Foods, says she's had to make adjustments as people are being urged not to gather in large groups during the holiday season.

While yellow zones inflict the lowest tier of restrictions, Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey says the rise in cases need to be taken seriously to prevent entering an orange or red zone.

In addition to business restrictions, schools in Peekskill are now fully remote until further notice.
