It is to come before the storm tonight because as we go into our Sunday afternoon, Sunday night and early Monday, the potential for damaging winds and flooding rain will be here. We do have that flood watch in effect for all the five boroughs. Really. This runs from New Jersey all the way up into parts of Connecticut and into Long Island as well. This is an effect from late Sunday until early Monday here. Now there will be some fog as we kick off our Sunday, visibility is getting down to below a half mile as we go into the day on Sunday as well. It's not gonna be until those winds kick up that, that fog will go away. We look at our future cast here so we're dry overnight, but we do have those areas of fog as we start off your Sunday here. It's going to be a cloudy foggy Sunday morning, but a dry one. So if you want to do things outdoors Sunday morning, you could. But as we go into the afternoon, here comes that rain and rain will be heavy at times. That's why we're seeing these oranges and this red on your future cast. As we go into Sunday afternoon and Sunday night, the potential for thunderstorms will be there and that could bring areas of roadway flooding could also bring some damaging wind gusts with this as well by two and the heaviest rain is gone, but there's still pockets of rain as we go into your Monday morning, commute and then after 9 a.m. or so we should be dry. Let's take a look at your wind forecast. Not much on Sunday morning, the winds kick up into the afternoon, that fog will go away as a result. But we are talking about a gusty Sunday afternoon, especially places that are right along the water here. We're talking about gusts 41 miles an hour in Sheepshead Bay, 43 miles an hour at JFK Airport at 545. On Sunday, wind gusts will be 35 to 50 miles an hour as we go into your Sunday afternoon and evening. And that doesn't even include what we could see from a thunderstorm which could be higher. Take a look at your 10 day forecast. After we get past our Monday morning, we are dry as we go into the rest of the week. Here, temperatures generally staying below average next storm would come sometime next Sunday or the following Monday.

Hey everyone. It's meteorologist Joe Martucci. Here we are in a storm watch as we go into our Sunday afternoon all the way through Monday morning, the worst of it is going to be 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. where I would advise to stay off the roads. We do have a windswept rain during that time and it's going to be enough to cause some issues. Here's a look at our rainfall totals. Highest totals are going to be the further east you are in Connecticut but anywhere really in Western Connecticut, 1.5 to 3 inches of rain. This will cause some areas of roadway flooding in your basement might flood as well. Wind gusts as we go into the evening, generally 35 to 50 miles an hour. If you see a thunderstorm, it could be higher than that. Looking at our 10 day forecast after Monday morning, pretty much dry for the rest of the week. Few flurries Wednesday, next storm, next Sunday.

And we remain on storm watch because we are getting ready for things to change a lot heading into tomorrow. Meteorologist Crystal Ellis is here. So, Crystal, what do we need to know about the timing of what's heading our way? It's gonna be the afternoon is when things really start to ramp up and into the evening hours and especially the late overnight hours. So as we look at our planner overnight tonight, we're just dealing with some patchy fog throughout the area that's gonna to diminish the visibility just a bit as we look towards Sunday, we'll have scattered showers around in the morning, the rain and wind will pick up especially in the afternoon and especially by Sunday night, that's when we will have some heavy heavier rain, more steady and widespread and the stronger winds will be around as well. So definitely not the most pleasant end to your weekend. Let's take a look at it on the future cast. Here we are tomorrow morning, those winds between 515 MPH, not a big deal until we get into the late morning afternoon and again into the nighttime hours. So scattered showers around. Although there's some pockets of heavy downpours in the late morning hours and into the afternoon. So more scattered, more steady to widespread rain picks up in the afternoon. And then the heavy downpours really get widespread as we step into tomorrow night and the evening and check out these wind gusts around 11 pm, 31 MPH in New City, 26 New Yorktown Heights. So we're definitely going to be feeling the wind and the wet weather could lead to flooding. Maybe some power outages. Definitely, some tree limbs could be brought down with that wind. As we look at the backside of the storm. By Monday morning, we'll have wraparound showers and the winds will still be around. We could even see some wet snowflakes sneaking in as that northwest wind flow brings in colder air. So for the second half of your Monday, we'll clear things out. It's going to stay pretty blustery out there though. Again, Monday afternoon will be about 25 mile per hour wind gusts. Let's check out this 10 day forecast. We are in storm watch for tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night and Monday morning before clearing things out for the rest of your work week will be feeling cold like December highs in the low forties but remaining dry.

Let's turn our attention now to our weather as we remain on storm watch because we have a serious storm heading our way. We're over here in the weather center with meteorologist Crystal Ellis. So, Crystal, what do people need to know about the exact timing here for this? Uh, the worst of it's going to be tomorrow night into the evening, late evening into tomorrow. The overnight hours. That's when we're going to see the worst wind gusts and the most widespread heaviest rainfall. But that doesn't mean before then we won't be experience some turbulent weather. So looking at our storm watch, we do have a high wind watch and a flood watch. 2 to 4 inches of rain could see even more than that in localized areas. So that will lead to flooding. You definitely want to try to stay home if you can for tomorrow. The winds also between 25 and 4540 MPH sustained gusting to 55 even 60 MPH for tomorrow. So that actually could lead to dangerous wind, damaging winds and uh down trees down power lines. So you definitely want to be weather aware for tomorrow, as we look into tomorrow afternoon, the winds start to pick up a little bit and we'll have some scattered downpours throughout the area as we step into the afternoon. Those downpours again, wherever they set up, that's where we'll have the most rainfall falling and check out the winds gusting up to 3035 MPH throughout the area. And this is around 4 p.m. and that's not even the worst of it as we keep going on. The future cast, you can see the rain is just training on in. It's continuing to come down in heavy bouts in the, in the red, orange and yellow shades and the wind is not going anywhere as well. In fact, it's going to be increasing as we step into the later hours. So here we are 11 pm, wind gusts 47 MPH in Smithtown, 47 Rocky Point and the rain continues to fall. So it's going to be a pretty serious storm for tomorrow. And then in your overnight hours, this is where we're seeing the worst of the wind gusts 52 in Rocky Point. And again, depending on where these fans set up will be the worst of the flooding potential. Looking at your Monday morning, it's still hanging on the winds eventually will calm down. And so does the rain. However, we will have a if you wrap around showers for Monday morning and blustery conditions for the second half of your Monday. So we are on storm watch Sunday afternoon, Sunday night and into your Monday morning before things begin to calm down, it gets colder, the wind sticks around and it's feeling like much more typical December weather highs in the forties for the rest of the work week. But at least it's quiet.

In the morning here, I do believe. But as we go into the afternoon, we're talking about downpours strong wind and yet a heavy rainfall that could cause some flooding across the area. We do have a flood watch in effect for all of New Jersey from late on our Sunday afternoon until Monday here. So we take a look at our overnight temperatures, upper thirties in the northwest corner of the state. Otherwise we're in the forties here. We're above average for this time of the year. Now, here comes our Sunday future cast. I want to show you what happens in the morning, mostly dry. But as go into the afternoon, more and more of these greens and yellows and reds are coming on here and that means heavier rain, steadier rain makes its way in steadiest as we go overnight here where there will be some rumbles of thunder and the potential for damaging wind gusts. In addition to flooded roadways, we could see a shower too as it exits Monday morning after sunrise here. But I do believe by 9 a.m. we are dry here across the area and then we'll have a good amount of sunshine here. We'll take a look at our rain forecast, show you what you can expect. So through 4:30 p.m. upwards of an inch here and then we tack on another couple of inches as we get into your Monday morning and then we take a look at your 10 day forecast. You'll see once we get past Monday morning, good amount of clear sky and sunshine. It's a week.
