Paramedic accused of stealing from critically injured man

Authorities say a paramedic stole property from a man who was critically injured and later died from an auto accident.
Yorktown police say 63-year-old Mark Swanson, of Ellenville, is charged with grand larceny and official misconduct.
The accident happened on Jan. 26 on Route 202 between Pine Grove and Garden Lane.
Police learned one of the missing items, an electronic communications device, was traced to a residence in Ulster County.
Investigators say the paramedic who responded to the accident and treated the victim lives there.
Yorktown police say the town contracts with Empress Ambulance for paramedic service.
