The Mount Vernon community held a parade to welcome home an 8-year-old boy from the hospital after his long battle with COVID-19.
Jorden Hutchins was hospitalized for six weeks for COVID-19 and a rare inflammatory syndrome in children linked with the coronavirus.
He was on a ventilator and needed heart surgery and dialysis. He also survived two strokes.
"He doesn't know that his chances were very slim,” said Jorden's mother Beverly Hutchins. “…To see him here actually home, that's why I got emotional."
Jorden was welcomed by his family, friends, Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard and members of the city's fire and police departments.
