Pope Francis' historic trip to the United States has affected people across the country, including those in the Hudson Valley.
The pontiff's six-day, three-city visit to the U.S. invigorated those of the Catholic faith, such as Judy Alfaro, who was at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Monday for Mass.
"I thought he was extremely authentic, deeply spiritual, non-judgemental and just a down-to-earth man," Alfaro says.
Despite Pope Francis' rock star-like treatment, Alfaro goes on to say that his kind gestures and his focus on the poor and the marginalized were what resonated with her.
Joe O'Leary and his wife, who attend Mass every day at St. John's, were also moved by the pope's message of love and acceptance.
Many Catholic residents have told News 12 that the pope's visit has bolstered their faith.
