The home field of the Rockland Boulders has a new sign to indicate the stadium's new name.
The sign was installed Thursday to reflect the new name, Palisades Credit Union Park. The stadium's name was changed from Provident Bank Park after it got a new sponsor.
Provident Bank was still on the left field scoreboard this spring when Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence visited work being done on the infield. Shortly after, he was indicted on federal charges connected to financing construction of the stadium.
St. Lawrence says he doesn't feel his legal problems will have a long-term effect on the Boulders or the park.
Steve Scurti, a Boulders fan from Stony Point, says he also sees no reason why the controversy should taint the team.
"I think the controversy should be independent of the team," he says. "The team are a bunch of baseball players and they should be respected for that."
In 2014, the Boulders were CanAm League Champions. The team is currently in second place.
