Delite Bake Shop, a Yonkers bakery beloved by the community, is closed until further notice due to a two-alarm fire that broke out overnight on Saturday.
A spokesperson from the Yonkers Fire Department said they found out about the blaze from an automated alarm that went off just after midnight.
Responding crews found heavy smoke at the location when they arrived and entered the building. They eventually determined the fire started underneath an oven.
The department used three hose lines to fight to the flames and contain the fire within store. No civilians were hurt. A firefighter sustained minor injuries.
Fire crews were on the scene Saturday morning, along with some patrons. Billy Bagnell came to the store to try and pick some pastries for a party.
"Just a bunch of folks coming in from out of town, and I'll have to tell them no cannoli today,'" Bagnell said.
A general manager at the bake shop said they donated the leftover goods to the Aisling Irish Community Center so that they wouldn't go to waste.
It was not immediately clear how long the shop would be closed.
