All eyes were on the departure boards at Newark Penn Station for much of Monday, as delays and cancellations, once again, took center stage, causing massive headaches for commuters.

"I'm not really sure where the train is or what is happening exactly. I'm just trying to stay put here and just trying not to freak out because I have finals," said Ellary Jenkins, of Montclair.

"I was going to be on time for classes but if they keep delaying or changing times, maybe even cancel. They have no news for us so hopefully something changes, and I can get to school," said Thomas Gelman, of State College, Pennsylvania.

"We took the train, and it was standing room only and that was express because it had problems up north, but we got here," said Diana Fatjo, of Edison.

The issue is familiar for NJ Transit passengers - overhead wire issues near Newark Penn Station. But what exactly happened to the wires is still unclear.

Sanjay Manshea was traveling home from India to Lancaster, Pennsylvania when he was caught in the mess. "This is first time. This is crazy delay, delay, delay, and now cancel...I need to figure it out either bus or second train, but I don't know which his next train schedule. Amtrak needs to do a better job, especially updating the schedule online," said Manshea.

During the disruption, New Jersey Transit rail tickets were cross honored by PATH at Newark, Hoboken and 33rd Street., New York and New Jersey transit and private bus carriers.
