Two Hawthorne companies must pay $21,000 in fines after two employees were killed when an oil tank exploded back in May.
The accident happened behind a Hastings-on-Hudson home on Hillside Avenue.
Segundo Mora and Luis Jocho, who were employed by Three D Commercial Services and Creative Rubber Works in Hawthorne, were killed in the explosion.
A six-month investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration found the companies never provided Jocho and Mora with proper training on how to remove the tank or deal with hazardous chemicals.
The two men used a saw to cut the tank, which created sparks and ignited vapors. The tank flew 75 feet in the air and exploded.
The companies have until Dec. 2 to pay or contest the fines.
