An Orange County Sheriff's Office deputy has been named New York's deputy of the year.
Investigator John O'Brien is being honored by the New York State Sheriff's Association for his quick-thinking actions that helped save an officer's life.
O'Brien, who was working with the U.S. Marshal Service Regional Task Force at the time, was assigned to apprehend a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of a Massachusetts state trooper.
During the operation, two officers were shot. That's when O'Brien jumped into action, administering first aid to the officer and ultimately helping save his life.
