News 12's Ben Nandy was in Middletown with an update from the department of public works.
The Middletown DPW commissioner says an advisory was issued for people to take their cars off certain streets.
The commissioner says they didn't need to salt the roads last night because the ground temperature was too warm for anything to stick, but this changed in the last couple of hours.
Snow is now accumulating significantly. Officials say, this is the worst of it, but they have it under control.
All plow trucks are out in the area.
Westbound I-84 was closed earlier this morning amid several accidents and disabled tractor-trailers, but has since reopened, state police say. Police caution that the roadway conditions remain slippery.
