Officials say Orange County has experienced nearly 800 confirmed cases of influenza since October.
More than 10,000 cases have been confirmed statewide since Jan. 5.
“It’s really important that we make sure people get vaccinated, they get their vaccinations as soon as possible if they haven't had it already. The vaccine is widely available,” says Orange County Deputy Health Commissioner Christopher Ericson.
Although getting the vaccine does not guarantee immunization against the flu, officials say it does protect against several strains and can lessen symptoms if the virus is contracted.
