Orange County fights cigarette use
Orange County is joining other regions around the state to combat the use of tobacco.
A bill to raise the legal age to buy cigarettes to 21 was signed in January and takes effect on June 1.
Wednesday, Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus met with seventh graders at C.J. Hooker Middle School in Goshen to talk about the dangers of smoking. "We're just trying to get the word out now to these young students to say look - don't even bother now because if you don't start it'll never be a problem for you in the future," says Neuhaus.
Four other counties in New York already have the Tobacco 21 law in place.
