The Taconic State Parkway collision that killed eight people in July was back in the national spotlight Tuesday when it was featured on the "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
Oprah Winfrey told her audience that by focusing on what happened, she hopes future tragedies can be averted. The hour-long episode focused on alcoholism and drugs and the devastating consequences that follow.
Police say Diane Schuler was drunk and high with five kids in the car when she drove the wrong way on the Taconic State Parkway in July. Schuler, four children in the vehicle and three men in another vehicle were killed.
