A night out partying took a violent turn Saturday after a gunman opened fire at a Wallkill nightclub, killing one man and leaving four people fighting for their lives.
State police say the violence erupted inside KJ's Tap Room on Tower Drive around 3 a.m. when a group of people got into an altercation. Police say someone pulled out a gun and started shooting into the crowd. Investigators say the violence spilled outside onto the street and more shots were fired. Police say one man was shot dead in the melee and four others are being treated for gunshot wounds.
State police are working with a number of local police departments on some leads in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New York State Police Department in Middletown at 845-344-5300.
