Officials: Item at Newark Liberty International Airport deemed not suspicious
Officials say an item that grounded a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport was not suspicious.
Port Authority police say a flight attendant on a plane identified the item in the cabin Saturday morning. It was not immediately clear what the item was.
It was found on JetBlue flight 573 heading to Tampa and was originally deemed suspicious by officials.
A K-9 team was dispatched to search the plane and 150 passengers were evacuated and brought back to the terminal.
The flight has since taken off and landed safely in Tampa.
