Tuckahoe residents are trying to come to grips with the horror that allegedly unfolded at a place where children are supposed to be safe.
Isaac Nelson McKnight, 23, is charged with molesting a 4-year old in his care on Friday at the Andrus Early Learning Center in Tuckahoe.
Investigators say McKnight, of New Rochelle, had passed state and local background checks before being hired. He had worked at the center for about two weeks.
The Andrus Center, housed in the same building as the Tuckahoe Police Department and other village offices, serves children from 18-months to 5 years old.
McKnight is facing felony sexual assault charges and has been fired from the daycare center.
He is being held at the Westchester County Jail, with bail set at $250,000.
