City officials claim a program aimed at assisting those who can't help themselves is in need of some help itself.New York City's Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum (D-NYC) and City Councilman Bill de Blasio (D-Brooklyn) are pushing for changes to Adult Protective Services. Gotbaum says the agency's number of cases has increased since 2002 and it is feeling the pinch.Among the changes they want are for the agency to be split into two specialized units; one for adults over 60 years old and one for those under 60 years old. They say more training is needed for workers and also are pushing for more internal reviews so workers can be held accountable.
