The Red Cross is assisting 11 Poughkeepsie residents who were left displaced by a fire at their multifamily home on Thursday.

Authorities say the flames broke out on Hamilton Street during the early morning hours.

Multiple people were injured, including one firefighter. They are all expected to recover.

Officials say eight adults, two teenagers and a 12-year-old are being helped by volunteers as they look for a place to stay.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
