I did not realize that we were already at this point in the year. It comes up so quick and I mean, that's why it feels so cold. I know. I know it's true. The weather is reminding us that. Yes, winter time is around the corner. We are chilly all the way through tomorrow morning and we are dry all day. Thursday. So Thursday actually looks pretty decent in the afternoon because temperatures rebound. But the rest of today is cold, cold, cold Friday. We're talking about rain. It's cloudy for the first half of the day and then kind of sprinkles, light showers for the evening time. It's nothing really too significant but it could get you a little wet at times and same for the weekend. It's generally a cloudy weekend. And if you have plans Saturday or Sunday evening, there will be a little bit of rain in the mix too. We're stuck in the thirties though, for the rest of today. There's no novelty snow flakes like we saw yesterday. It's too dry for that today. Temperatures are, you know, pretty similar, but the wind is not as bad today. So that helps. But it does feel like basically 30 degrees all afternoon and it feels like twenties for your Thursday morning. So this is what you're waking up to as far as wind chill goes. I'll show you the temperatures in a second, but the wind chill is what you want to pay attention to tomorrow. Still a bit of a breeze. In the afternoon, we have lots of sunshine. Highs are in the mid, upper forties, but it feels like lower forties. So that's kind of important to keep in mind you'll need the heavy jacket this evening. And tonight, actual temperatures are close to freezing this morning. It was 27 in Central Park and that was the coldest we've been since February 25th. So it's an improvement tomorrow, but not much. And then on Friday, it's going to be similar temperatures, but we've got some rain to talk about. You see, in the morning it's dry on Friday, but in the afternoon we tracking a few showers, lunchtime, very light shower chance. And then the evening commute the second half of the evening commute, especially dinner time or so, we'll see a few passing showers or maybe even a downpour, but it's pretty brief. Saturday morning should be dry. Saturday afternoon, enough cloud cover to bring in a stray shower chance, but we're keeping an eye over a 10 day for now. Sunday, that rain risk is a little bit higher in the afternoon and evening temperatures are back in the forties and fifties.

A lot like the holiday season. Hope this cold weather helping with that. And there's some Christmas trees around the city that are being lit right now. Yeah, we got the tree lighting happening this evening. So here's a look at your forecast. You know, temperatures are going to be cold in the low to mid thirties. We're going to see a few passing clouds out there, but you definitely need to layer up. This is where temperatures are going tomorrow morning. You're definitely going to still need that nice hot cup of coffee or a nice hot cup of tea just to keep you warm temperatures near 32 degrees. Still feeling like the twenties. And then by the afternoon we'll be reaching the upper forties just shy of 50 degrees, but we're going to see the sunshine all day long and the winds won't be as harsh. So that's some good news for our Thursday. Friday does feature some wet weather. Temperatures will be climbing into the low fifties, but you need to pack the umbrella during the day and even into the evening hours, Saturday, we do catch a break during the daytime and then some more wet weather to follow by Saturday night into Sunday. So the weekend won't be a washout. But your best bet to go outside will be on Saturday maybe to bring out some holiday decorations or maybe pick out your tree. But tomorrow morning still very cold. A few passing clouds. Temperatures near 32 look where temperatures are going. Tomorrow afternoon, highs in the upper forties, near 50 degrees in the Bronx sunshine all day long and the winds won't be as harsh. So it is actually gonna feel good to be outside Friday does start off dry, cool cloudy, but temperatures will be in the upper forties. Low fifties, wet weather to follow by the afternoon, lingering into the evening commute. It is going to be wet but just some nuisance showers today, it's not going to be an impactful system. Saturday again catching a break, not seeing a lot of sunshine. Temperatures will be in the low to mid f. So Saturday is actually looking like a good day to be outside. Sunday does start off dry before more wet weather pushes through Sunday night into early next week and temperatures will be chilly once again by Hanukkah. All right, hope. Thanks.

The, uh, forecast and looking nice and we're warming up again. We are warming up. It's been cold. But I'm telling you if you dress warm, it's just kind of nice to get out here, taking some of that fresh air. Some of our local Long Island photographers have been getting great photos. Linda was at Fire Island Lighthouse and you can see the sky nice and clear there. But I'll tell you there is quite a good breeze by the water and it has been feeling cold, but now we're going to get a little bit of a break from the cold and the breeze. So overnight 25 degrees mostly clear that cold, but the wind isn't as bad. So it's not going to have that bite in the morning. 48 tomorrow afternoon. That's about 10 degrees warmer than what we've been seeing and it won't be as windy. It's going to be nice, sunny and seasonable. So, enjoy your day. We've had some big lake effect snow bands north and west of Long Island. Those are winding down because the wind is switching to the southwest. You see the weather is quiet across the northeast into the Ohio River Valley and around the Middle Atlantic State. So good news for us. It's clear tonight in the morning at 6 a.m. we are in the upper twenties to near 30 degrees less wind for the afternoon might be a little bit of a breeze from time to time out of the southwest. Only about 5 to 15 MPH. But at three o'clock, you make it to 45 in Montauk, 47 Glen Cove and 46 in Miller Place. So we do have that warmer feel at night, partly cloudy. And then our weather starts to change on Friday. It will be mild. We are in the fifties as early as 10 o'clock in the morning, but rain is coming in late in the day. So after four o'clock, we watch some showers. This will be a fast moving front. By about midnight, the rain moves out. Saturday is dry late Sunday. We have another batch of showers coming in and some of those showers could linger early next week. So we are back up into the fifties for the weekend. Saturday is the better day early next week. Some showers clearing late and turning a little bit cooler later in the week.

Meteorologist Addison Green back now with a look ahead to milder days, my friend. Yeah, we're not talking though, Kevin, like, break out the shorts though, so I gotta keep us still back in the closet. But we'll get the chance for maybe dealing with temperatures running a little bit better, more appropriate for this time of the year because the past few days have been a little bit more winter like than fall. Like after all, we are still in the middle of going through these fall days. Now go through your day on Thursday. It's gonna be getting a little bit better out there. Temperatures moving upward. They'll continue to move upward for your day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But we do have a deal of rain chances also on the rise. But you can certainly see over the next several mornings where we have been feeling that really big chill in the air. Thursday morning, temperatures around mid-twenties feeling about 20 degrees Friday, mid thirties feeling about 30 degrees and then by Saturday, 41 feeling close to that. So yeah, we're moving those numbers in a positive direction through your future cast. We go towards eight o'clock, 30 degrees in Poughkeepsie feels like 23 white way, same thing for you and then towards the 10 o'clock hour watching those numbers kind of still hanging around that same area towards Thursday morning. Though, temperatures around say Yorktown Heights been about 24 degrees go down towards around 29. Not bad. A little bit chilly out there to the Middletown area. Then by Thursday afternoon, temperatures certainly looking to be moving in a positive direction. Lots of locations feeling like the upper thirties. Now for Friday, we're going to be watching a storm system moving towards the northeast and as we bring in milder air, we're also bringing in that rain shower chain. So as we displace that colder air, we're not worried about any wintry mix or snow mixed on in with those rain showers, just rain coming on down and it should be wrapping on up by the time we get in towards early Saturday morning and then we'll get a dry day through that.

Weather wise, when will the cold like be out of here completely? Uh Tomorrow afternoon. So it's great. You know, tomorrow morning though, it's, it's gonna feel pretty bad and then tomorrow afternoon, temperatures are gonna quickly recover. So this is, this is fast. This is great news because this cold air is moving rapidly by tomorrow afternoon, 47 Windsor south and west and we have beautiful sunshine and then tomorrow night, it's not as cold. It is going to be feel so much better to stand outside. Looking back on today, the high temperature was 37. 49 is the normal. So more than 10 degrees colder and then tomorrow and the next several days will be closer to average or even a little bit above average tonight though, make sure you dress the part layered up, cover all exposed skin. We still have those wind chills out there. A beautiful clear sky tonight in Norwalk. And then tomorrow morning we start off below freezing, end up well above freezing, which is great news and then the rain comes in. So really, tomorrow's probably the pick of the week where it's milder and it's dry because Friday it won't be. And over the weekend we're going to be watching Sunday and Monday, be sure to stay with us this weekend and we'll keep you updated on that. In the meantime, though, be prepared for temps below freezing tonight. Twenties all around and winds are going to turn south and west, which really helped us out tomorrow so high, it's climate in the forties, maybe even close to 50 in a few spots. So that's a big change. Here's a look at that extended forecast. Rain on Friday. You'll need those umbrellas. Sunday, Monday, possibly Tuesday. This is a very active weather pattern that develops for us. Not a wash, not raining the entire time, but it will be on and off for a few days. At least temperatures are well above normal and no snow for now. And that's a look at your local forecast.

Bye, bye. All right, let's see where your forecast is going. As we head into the overnight hours, we are going to be talking about temperatures tonight that are going to be fading down from the thirties into the twenties. Again, the winds aren't going to be as harsh, but there is still a little bit of a breeze. Skies for the most part are going to be on the clearish side, maybe a few passing clouds here there. But we're looking for a beautiful starlit evening overnight, lows dropping down into the twenties again, west southwest winds and that's the difference here. It's the wind direction becoming more south westerly, allowing that Carolina Air back up towards New Jersey. The issue is that that Carolina Air was frigid this morning. So it's going to take some, take a while before we start to see the milder temperatures returning to the area, but it's a little more seasonable for tomorrow as daytime highs climb back up into the upper forties. Fair weather is already beginning to move away from the area that returns more of a south westerly and we start to get some of this air from the deep south back up towards New Jersey. But again, it's going to take some time notice how chilly it is in Knoxville, Charleston, South Carolina is at 54. I mean, you got Northern Florida that's still looking at temperatures in the lower fifties there. So it'll take some time before we start to see those temperatures rebounding and it's on the chillier side out there right now. Numbers are in the lower thirties, a little bit of a breeze making it feel like the upper twenties across the area. Temperatures are back up into the upper forties to about 50 degrees for tomorrow afternoon. It's a mixture of sun and clouds. We'll see a little more cloud coverage coming into the area. Late Thursday night, Friday starts off. Ok. And then quickly we start to see the clouds rolling back in and then we'll probably be looking for some rain showers to move through the area in an on again off again. Fashion for Friday night going into very, very early Saturday morning weekend does not look like it's going to be a wash out, but we have to keep an eye on Sunday, some of the guidance and there's disagreement with all the models here, but there could be a coastal system hanging off the Jersey shoreline that would enhance the uh the rainfall going into Sunday. And maybe on Monday change some of that rain over to snow. Well, north of New Jersey, but it could turn wintry for some areas going into early next week. I'll have more details on that forecast coming right up.

Officer runs marathon in 30 pounds of tactical gear

Nearly 50,000 runners from around the world and across the country took over city streets on Sunday for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. 26.2 miles alone is excruciating enough. Let's go. Let's go. Chicago police officer James Mendoza upped the ante pounding the pavement in full uniform. Mendoza's race bib pinned to his left leg. This is weird that there's a police officer in the middle of the runners, Dean Tulis, a Chicago attorney and adventure photographer was taking pictures of a friend running the marathon when he saw Mendoza. Then I saw he was wearing a and then I saw he was wearing all the tactical equipment and he quickly pulled up his camera to capture this powerful moment. I'm like this guy is a beast. Tula says he even gave Mendoza a little pep talk as he trotted by up next to him and gave him a pat on the back and started screaming at him and he kind of looked at me and apparently around the corner he was running pretty good. So maybe it worked out. Officer didn't want to talk about his incredible feat on camera. But c tells us Mendoza served in the navy is an avid runner and completed the marathon to support the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation which financially supports the families of fallen officers. Mendoza also ran to highlight Chicago's first responders. Everybody else has got the lightest shorts and shirts and best shoes and everything else they have. He's out, Jim's out there doing it with his full uniform on Phil Klein is the executive director of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. He says Mendoza and 80 others running the marathon helped raise over $160,000 for the non profit making this medal. At the end of the race, truly priceless. You can't go backwards. You've got to keep moving forward and he showed us that not only can you do that on the street as a policeman, but he did it as an athlete.
